Triarchy exists to outfit our customer with the best pair of jeans possible. In every sense of the word best.
A letter from our CEO
Beyond plastic, our focus has always been on reducing the over consumption of water that is traditionally used to make jeans, as well as eliminating the use of hazardous chemicals that also have been a mainstay in the denim industry. When we combine all of these efforts, they allow us to make the best pair of jeans possible. In every sense of the word best. Having said this however, I would never ask you to take my word for it because the truth is, you shouldn’t. This is why we hire third party auditors to investigate and vet everything we say we do and then publish their finding through their platforms which are available to view on our website. Our auditing partners Greenstory and Renoon work with us to examine every garment we make and then share the savings and statistics unique to each garment online and via unique QR codes that can be found and scanned within each garments, exposing their metrics and supply chains. Last but certainly not least, we offset the carbon for every pair of clothing we make and sell via the same 3rd party auditor Greenstory, and we plant a tree for everything sold via One Tree Planted. Our detailed responsibility and code of conduct pages go into further detail about how we operate our company, from our state of the art responsible wash practices to our inclusive team building and the importance of promoting mindfulness as a tool to make more responsible and less reactive decisions in consumption habits and life itself. At the end of the day each of our mindsets is going to be what makes this change a reality. Thank you for coming along on this adventure with us and for believing in us. We whole heartedly believe in you too.
I started Triarchy with my brother and sister to act as a vehicle to change the denim industry from one of over consumption and waste to one of responsible manufacturing practices. In todays world, the word responsibility seems to be used by everyone regardless of of the fact that everyones understanding of the word is different. It is difficult to operate within the framework of a word when the word itself is so ambiguous. It is for this reason that we prefer the word Responsibility over responsibility. We all know what it means to conduct ourselves responsibly and this is how Triarchy navigates the denim space. Our modern understanding of denim often goes hand in hand with the idea that jeans need to be stretchy. In order for jeans to be stretchy they need to have plastic woven into the core of the fabric to allow the fabric to stretch. This plastic is a derivative of crude oil, sheds micro-plastics throughout its life and forces the jeans to sit in a landfill for up to 200 years at their end of life. Triarchy eliminated plastic from it’s materials upon it’s inception and exclusively offers plastic free stretch jeans. The stretch for our jeans comes from natural rubber, does not shed micro-plastics and will biodegrade in less than two years under the right conditions. We use organic and recycled cotton, as well as Tencel and Refibra alongside the natural rubber to make a completely new type of garment that looks exactly like the jeans we’ve known and loved our whole lives.

And these are our responsible practices
To us, responsibility means building a business that can operate sustainably as well as create responsible products. If we aren’t paying a living wage and supporting human and animal rights then we aren’t responsible.
All of our jeans and denim jackets are produced with responsibly made fabrics and washed with the most advanced responsible laundry technology available.
We only work with people who share the same vision and understanding of responsibility as us and this is what allows us to make perfect denim.
We believe that responsible brands have to be vetted by 3rd party resources in order to be able to claim responsibility at their core, and this is why we disclose all of our responsibility data via 3rd party auditor GreenStory as well as exposing our supply chain via Renoon.
Our Code of Conduct illustrates all of our morals and values in practical and executable points that we share with everyone we are about to work with to have them sign off on it before we engage.
The beauty of this level of transparency is that it secures our needs as a responsible brand and also shines a light into areas where improvement can be made, allowing us to be aware of these areas.
responsibility and transparency are of utmost important to our brand, it is what Triarchy is built on.

Our fibers
We source responsibly farmed fibres that are then woven into sustainably produced and dyed denim fabrics. Our supply chain is 3rd party audited and published by Renoon.

Organic Cotton
Cotton is one of the oldest and purest forms of textiles. It’s history spanning thousands of years it has impacted every civilization.
Unfortunately humans have contaminated cotton by using pesticides and other harmful chemicals. From the planting process, throughout its growth, harvesting, spinning it into yarn and eventually into the textiles used to make clothing and jeans.
These harmful pesticides and chemicals come in contact with your skin through you clothing and slowly get absorbed into your body.
We at Triarchy wanted to eliminate those harmful substances from the process of making our denim and did so by using organic cotton.
Organic cotton eliminates the use of pesticides and fertilizers, preventing contamination of skin as well as groundwater, thus making drinking water clean and safe. It has been found that the impact of water pollution of organic cotton is 98% less compared to the conventional cotton production. Organic cotton production equals .7% of global cotton production.

Tencel
Tencel is a fabric that is made from a natural fibre derived from breaking down trees into pulp and spinning the pulp fibre into a soft, durable textile. The lyocell and modal fibers are derived from responsible wood sources which stem from natural forests and sustainably managed plantations. On average consuming 85% less water to grow than cotton.
Tencel is smooth to the touch and retains dyes better. With its botanic origins it is a cellulosic fibre that is naturally comfortable and supports a responsible lifestyle. Keeping Triarchy true to its word by making sure you’re in the purest materials out there.
Natural Rubber
Stretch denim, to date, has always been made with some percentage of plastic woven into the fabric, which is what makes it stretchy.
Unfortunately, this comfort comes at the cost of making a product that biodegrades at the same rate as a plastic bag, and contributes to micro plastics flooding our oceans.
We stand proud by our bio stretch for the simple reason of keeping harmful plastics of our skin, which in turn, keeps our oceans free of micro plastics.
How do we accomplish this? By making it out of 96% organic cotton and 4% natural rubber.Making it the first stretch denim completely free from plastics and micro plastics.
Our cotton is wrapped around a natural rubber core that both biodegrade together. Taking it less then 1 year to decompose naturally rather then the 20-200 years it takes regular stretch denim to decompose.

Our dyes
We use reduced sulpher indigo that allows us to achieve authentic indigo colors without the use of toxic chemicals or crops that consume large amounts of water to cultivate.

Indigo
Spanning civilizations throughout the world, indigo is as rich in history as it is colour. True indigo, Indigofera tinctoria, is the most common plant used to create this dye. Fun fact that this plant comes from the pea family, making it a valuable plant to enrich soil as well.
The dye itself though does not exist in nature; it is purely a human invention. Humans found that fermenting indican (which is a naturally occurring chemical in Indigo) and processing the chemical makes indigo dye.
Here at Triarchy we use a specially formulated Indigo that is already 60% reduced. This allows us to use non-harmful soda ash in the dye vat rather then harmful abrasive chemicals. It is extremely easy to use and pre-reduced Indigo makes the set up and maintenance of an Indigo dye vat almost effortless. Keeping our denim clean and low water consuming like it’s meant to be.
Our wash processes
We use a combination of ozone, e-flow and laser technologies to wash our denim down in the most responsible and responsible way possible. This entire process is 3rd party audited and published by GreenStory.

Wash Processes
We rely on three different technologies that were created to mimic traditional denim washing technique's, without the harmful side effects.
Wash Processes Specifications
We leave no stone unturned in our mission to bring to market the most responsible and resposibly made jeans available.

Neutral Enzymes
We use neutral enzymes made by Dystar in cold water, reducing waste and the over use of natural resources.

Cold Water
We wash our denim in cold water.

Laser Machine Finishing
In our finishing process, we Jeanologia laser machines. This uses less energy and is safer for workers health.

Vapor Water
Using Jeanologia's e-flow, we wash with vapor water to save water and energy. For stonewashing we use nano bubbles instead of rocks.

Ozone Wash
We bleach without bleach using Jeanologia's ozone machines. This ozone wash is a triplemolecule Oxygen (O3).

No PP
We use enzymes and light PP (laser) in place of potassium permanganate.

Faux Stone Wash
Regular stone wash is in fact done with stones, however when this process takes place he water left over is unrecyclable. We use eco stones that are built to mimic real stones without the run off which allows the water to be recycled.
Our first wash process takes its inspiration from the atmosphere. We’ve eliminated using water and chemicals to wash jeans down to a lighter color. How do we do this? By taking air from the atmosphere and transforming it into ozone with our state of the art machinery. The particles are released inside the tumbler and produce the effect of washing denim down. Getting the bleaching effect without bleach and other harmful chemicals. Read that again, bleach without bleach! This is all accomplished in a zero discharge process as at the end of the cycle we convert the 03 back into 02, Keeping your jeans natural and toxic free.
Who hasn’t played with bubbles at one point in their life? We’ve all seen them float by and bounce along surfaces until they pop leaving behind their residue. But even us at Triarchy never imagined we would be using nano bubbles with e-flow technology to create our jeans. e-flow technology uses minimal amounts of water (1 glass vs the industry standard 70 liters) to create a vapor spray that makes thousands of nano bubbles with enzymes on the skin of these bubbles. When the bubbles come into contact with the denim, it bursts, and the enzymes create an effect similar to stone washing. It is a responsible textile solution that transfers enzyme products to the garment without any waste or toxic chemicals. Keeping your jeans pure and light as a bubble.
When lightning strikes it leaves a mark. This dry process is as simple as that. By using the most advanced laser technologies for garments we are able to distress and add details to our denim without any toxic sprays. Which has also eliminated the need for manual and harmful processes. Instead of potassium permanganate and other harmful chemicals that workers inhale, we design the distressing on the computer and then bur the design into the garment with lasers.
Making jeans and harming people in the process was never an option for Triarchy. By using these various wash and dry processes we can rest easier knowing that no lives are being harmed in the making of our jeans and that the environment is being supported as we work along side Mother Nature not against her.
